Jonathan's Week 2 Chili Narrative
Week 2's chili was my standard chili with one small variations and one huge one.
Radishes: I had no celery but I had an abundance of radishes, as usual. I diced a few of these and sauteed them at the start with the onions, carrots and peppers. But I also set aside a handful to toss in, raw, to each bowl right before serving.
The huge variation was that I made use of a about 1/4 roast chicken that was left over from my parents. (Yes, this was in addition to the bacon and ground beef.) I added a bunch of shredded chicken pieces, but also cooked an entire thigh at the bottom of the chili pot so that the fat and flavors would soak in to the whole thing. Worked.
The serrano peppers were active in this one. Jamie called this 5-alarm chili but I counted about 3 1/2, maybe 4 alarms.
Jamie Says
Jonathan made a chili quesadilla tonight for dinner. It was so damn good. How did I get so lucky?
Yes, definitely not 5-alarm. I thought it was 5-alarm during a hasty and uncondoned taste-test.
Ate chili for 3 meals over last 24 hours. That's living the good life.
